Position Overview
Department: Marketing
Location: Hybrid – Remote + Office in Washington DC
The Marketing Manager will play a critical role in Ordway’s strategy to build greater brand awareness, continuously generate sales pipeline, and expand relationships with existing customers. This position offers a great opportunity to build a wide range of skills in a short period of time. The Marketing Manager will work on both in-person (real world) programs as well as digital marketing activities. Key responsibilities will include event marketing, webinars/virtual events, user groups, customer marketing, and partner marketing functions. S/he will also be responsible for acting as an in-house agency to support the needs of other departments within the business with marketing materials.
The Marketing Manager will report to the CMO and work closely with their peers in digital marketing, demand generation, product marketing, sales development, field sales, and client services organizations to execute campaigns, events, and marketing strategies.
Job Responsibilities
This role will be responsible for three primary functions: field marketing, corporate communications, and a subset of the digital marketing programs.
Field Marketing
- Event Marketing – Planning and execution of the company’s presence at industry tradeshows in the finance, SaaS, and technology ecosystem. Manage company events, including user conferences and regional customer/prospect dinners.
- Customer Marketing – Build customer advocacy programs designed to drive case studies, testimonials, and online reviews (G2, Capterra). Manage communications programs such as email newsletters and webinars.
- Partner Marketing – Execute joint campaigns and events with partners such as financial advisory firms and Fintech software providers in the tax, payment, accounting, CRM, CPQ, and ERP sectors.
- Direct Mail – Manage company’s promotional merchandise including selection, replenishment, and shipping. Execute account-based marketing campaigns to send dimensional mailers to target accounts.
Corporate Communications
- Public Relations – Generate press coverage with national media, industry trades, and technology publications, and submissions for product and corporate awards. Support executive thought leadership programs.
- Social Media Marketing – Grow the company’s following and engagement on B2B social media platforms such as LinkedIn, X, and Facebook. Manage editorial calendar and develop content for posts.
- In-House Agency – Support the sales, client services, product management, human resources and senior executive team with events, presentations, videos, and marketing collateral. Manage network of freelancers, consultants, and outside agencies for fulfillment.
Digital Marketing
- Webinars and Virtual Events – Run point on live webinars, product demos, and virtual conferences hosted by Ordway or 3rd parties. Manage pre-event registration page, invitation list, and distribution as well as post-event distribution of recordings and leads.
- Email Marketing – Drive for email newsletters, events and webinar invitations. Manage subscriber acquisition, database health, and email distribution lists. Measure subscriber growth, clickthrough rate, and lead conversion rates.
Note, that this role does not have responsibility for the website, SEO/AEO, or digital advertising campaigns.
Desired Skills and Qualifications
- B2B Marketing – Candidates must have 10 or more years of experience working in B2B marketing roles targeting enterprise or middle-market clients (as opposed to government or consumer B2C marketing).
- Project Management – Success in the role will require excellent organizational and communication skills, including tracking 50-100 different sub-tasks for 10-20 campaigns simultaneously.
- Hands-On – The ideal candidate is a “do-er”, willing to “roll up their sleeves” to do hands-on event logistics and martech systems work as needed.
- Tech Industry – Candidate must have prior experience at a tech company. Experience at a high-growth, early-stage firm is preferred.
- Hybrid Work – The candidate will primarily work remotely from their home office but will be expected to attend on-site meetings a few days per month in Washington DC.
- Education – Candidates must have an undergraduate degree in a relevant field.
- Travel – Flexibility to travel to tradeshows and company-organized events, averaging 1-2 trips per month during Spring and Fall busy seasons.
