Like a performance vehicle’s suspension, or the spine of a world-class sprinter, alignment is key to outpacing the competition. For businesses who want to change the world, it comes down to more than a great idea. It comes down to the alignment of three teams: internal, external, and home. The Ordway team here in DC recently celebrated a wonderful 2018 with good food and conversation about what we accomplished in 2018 and the opportunity that lays ahead for 2019.

Sameer framed 2018 by giving thanks to the entire team that makes Ordway success possible:

  • Internal team — the engineers, product managers, sales, and operations professionals that make our customers’ lives easier by eliminating manual workarounds in complex billing and revenue recognition processes.
  • External team — the advisors and investors who are betting that Ordway becomes the next DC Tech success. They’ve seen it all before, and provide timely advice on big decisions we face.
  • Home team — the friends, significant others, and family that support the Internal team as Ordway continues to attract world-class talent passionate about relieving growing companies’ billing pains.

We also want to thank fellow DC Tech startup Hungry for preparing an awesome spread for the team. We picked a DC based chef, Chef Ryan Hackney, who was featured on Beat Bobby Flay this past November.  We had the amazing opportunity to taste Chef Ryan’s Smashed Cucumber Salad that the judges noted as “the star of the show” during the episode. All of his food lived up to his reputation!

In the end, 2018 was a great year for us. We now serve a wide range of customers in logistics, healthcare, technology, restaurant, real estate, and media industries just to name a few.

2019 will be even better knowing that we have the three pillars of our success — the internal, external, and home teams — aligned to take Ordway to the next level.

Sameer Gulati

After having launched several billion-dollar finance applications at some of the world’s leading ERP companies, Sameer Gulati founded Ordway in 2018 with the vision of building a more flexible billing and revenue automation platform. He wanted to free customers from the constraints that many of the incumbent, rigid financial systems suffered. Over the past few years, Sameer has led Ordway through a period of rapid growth and outside investment as the company has begun to disrupt the recurring billing and subscription management category.
