What is Subscription billing software?
Subscription billing is specifically designed to generate invoices for contracts with recurring fees. It is different than traditional billing applications which are designed to invoice for one-time transactions such as orders. For example, a subscription billing application is well suited to invoice a customer monthly who has purchased an annual contract for a SaaS application. However, a traditional billing application is better suited to issue an invoice for a one-time purchase of a laptop. Ordway’s subscription billing software will calculate the line item charges for each account, distribute the invoice electronically, and collect payments from the customer. How does subscription billing engine work?
To calculate the charges owed to a customer, Ordway collects the key information about the subscription from your CRM or e-commerce system. Details about the products and packages, pricing and discounts, contract term and start date, payment terms and billing date are collected and then fed to the billing engine. Ordway will calculate the appropriate line items and then bill the customer on their desired frequency. For example, we might bill once per year for annual contracts and monthly for pay-as-you-go plans. Ordway can also calculate sales taxes, perform currency conversions, collect recurring payments, and send customers notifications about invoices.
