As a Product Manager at Ordway Labs, you will play a critical role in defining, developing, and managing our billing and finance platform. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive product innovation, ensure market fit, and deliver value to our customers. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of product management principles and a passion for creating exceptional software solutions — including the ability to define and drive AI- enabled features that transform how finance, billing, and revenue operations are performed.
Job Responsibilities
Product Strategy and Vision
- Develop and communicate a clear product vision and strategy aligned with company goals.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities and define product positioning.
- Work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, define product features, and prioritize the product roadmap.
Product Development
- Collaborate with engineering, design, and other teams to develop and deliver high-quality products.
- Write detailed product specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Manage the product development lifecycle from concept to launch, ensuring timely and successful delivery.
Customer Engagement
- Engage with customers to understand their needs, pain points, and feedback.
- Use customer insights to inform product decisions and enhance the user experience.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and partners.
Performance Measurement
- Define and track key performance metrics to measure product success.
- Analyze product performance data to identify trends, issues, and areas for improvement.
- Use data-driven insights to make informed product decisions and drive continuous improvement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with marketing, sales, customer support, and other teams to ensure product alignment and successful go-to-market strategies.
- Develop training materials and support documentation to enable effective product use and adoption.
- Coordinate product launches and ensure smooth execution across all departments.
AI-Enabled Product Features in Finance, Billing & Revenue
A core component of this role is the ability to conceptualize, define, and champion AI-powered capabilities across the billing, revenue, and accounting domains. Responsibilities include:
AI Feature Definition & Roadmap
- Identify and define AI/ML-enabled features that automate and augment core finance workflows including invoice generation, revenue recognition, collections, and reconciliation.
- Translate complex domain requirements into clear AI product specifications, including data inputs, model outputs, confidence thresholds, and human-in-the-loop intervention points.
- Build and maintain an AI feature roadmap aligned with company strategy and customer demand.
Billing & Revenue Intelligence
- Define AI features for smart billing — including anomaly detection in invoices, predictive dunning, auto-correction of billing errors, and dynamic pricing recommendations.
- Conceptualize revenue forecasting and predictive analytics capabilities leveraging historical billing and subscription data.
- Drive development of AI-assisted revenue recognition tools compliant with ASC 606 and IFRS 15, reducing manual effort and audit risk.
Customer-Facing AI Experience
- Define UX patterns for AI-assisted workflows — including copilot interfaces, inline suggestions, confidence indicators, and override/correction mechanisms.
- Conduct customer discovery to identify high-value AI use cases and validate feature concepts before development investment.
- Create clear documentation and training materials to drive adoption of AI features among finance and accounting users.
Accounting & GL Automation
- Define AI-powered journal entry suggestions, automated account coding, and intelligent reconciliation features for General Ledger workflows.
- Identify opportunities to apply NLP and LLM-based capabilities for contract interpretation, obligation identification, and revenue allocation.
- Collaborate with data science and engineering teams to ensure AI features are explainable, auditable, and compliant with GAAP/IFRS standards.
AI Model Evaluation & Governance
- Work with engineering and data teams to define success metrics, accuracy benchmarks, and bias/fairness criteria for AI models in financial contexts.
- Establish feedback loops and continuous improvement mechanisms for AI features post-launch.
- Ensure AI features meet data privacy, security, and regulatory requirements relevant to financial data processing.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in product management, preferably in a SaaS or technology company.
- Well versed with GAAP and IFRS accounting standards, in particular, revenue standards such as FASB ASC 606 and IFRS 15.
- Knowledge of Billing / Invoicing, Accounting, General Ledger, Financial Reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to define AI/ML-enabled product features, with understanding of how machine learning models are built, evaluated, and integrated into production software.
- Familiarity with LLM-based applications (e.g. copilots, document understanding, intelligent automation) and their application in finance and accounting workflows.
- Strong understanding of product management principles, methodologies, and best practices.
- Proven track record of successfully managing and launching software products.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with agile development methodologies.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- 5+ years of product management experience, with at least 2–3 years focused on data, analytics, or BI products.
- Strong SQL literacy — able to read, interpret, and review complex queries; comfortable discussing query optimization and data modeling trade-offs.
- Hands-on familiarity with data warehouse platforms such as Snowflake, Redshift, or ClickHouse.
- Experience managing BI/visualization products — Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or similar.
- Working knowledge of ETL/ELT concepts and data pipeline architectures.
- Demonstrated ability to write PRDs and user stories for data-intensive, technically complex products.
- Experience defining metrics and success criteria for analytics features and data products.
- Strong facilitation and communication skills — ability to run discovery workshops, present roadmaps, and manage stakeholder expectations at all levels.
